Well, since this is my last blog post before Sunday, I want to fill you all in on a thing I am helping to launch called Deeper.
Have you been going to church for a while, maybe made some steps towards Christ, either getting to know him, or trying to know Him more, but just felt like something was missing? Felt like it was to shallow? Felt like you wanted to go deeper?
Deeper is a new service we are holding at Gap Community Church that is designed for those who want to go, well, deeper.
Deeper in your knowledge of Christ.
Deeper in knowing his plan for you.
Deeper into what it means to be a disciple.
Let me show you what this service is going to look like:
Deeper will happen on the first and second Sunday of every month at 6PM at The Family Center of Gap, and will start with the teaching, with worship happening AFTER the teaching. So don’t be late or you will miss an important part of the service. “If you miss the first 5 minutes, you’ve missed the point” ~ Cody Hall
At Gap Community Church, our goal is to “Connect the Unconnected” and to “Strengthen the Connection”. And I think that GCC has done a really good job of connecting the unconnected with the Sunday morning service. But we have really struggled, I felt, with the strengthening the connection piece.
Which is why I am so excited about Deeper, and so excited and humbled to be a part of the team that is helping to plan and launch this. I know that discipleship is at the heart of God, the with the great commission being “Go and make disciples of all nations”. And if all we do is convert, which is a very necessary first step to creating disciples, but fail to actually disciple people beyond that, then we (as the church) have only done half of what we are sent out to do.
I’m going to make a bold statement, and I’m not trying to say this to judge anyone, but if a tree is known by its fruit, then a person is known by their “fruit”… So here is my bold statement:
If you are a true follower of Christ, and have truly accepted Him as your Lord and savior (to use the christianese for it), then you should have a desire to go Deeper in that relationship.
So that is my challenge/question for you: In what area(s) of your life and relationship with Christ are you looking to go deeper? Leave it in a comment, I would love to get your thoughts!
