A Ripple of Hope

“Each time a man stands for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring, those ripples build a current which can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance” ~ Robert F. Kennedy

I love this quote.

I love the term he uses here, “ripple” not just that but “tiny ripple”. But that tiny ripple builds into this HUGE wave. We don’t have to do something big to change the world. We just need to the right thing, no matter how small. I heard someone on a TV show put it this way:

“One raindrop raises the sea.”

So next time you see someone you should stand up for, or an ideal to hold up, or have an opportunity to do the right thing, do it. No matter how small. Because that action could be the thing that turns the ripples into a wave.
