Love and Pain | Part 2

This is a continuation of Thursdays post, which you can read here.
One tear in the driving rain,
One voice in a sea of pain
Could the maker of the stars
Hear the sound of my breaking heart?” ~”Hold My Heart” by Tenth Avenue North

I spend so much time talking about love, and what love is, and how do we love and all that. And I touch on pain, but I never REALLY talked abut pain. How do we deal with pain? We begin to open these wounds, we take the band-aid off and let it breathe, and that’s good and it’s the first step to healing, but where do we go from there?

We sit in pain crying out for someone to hear us. We want someone to ask us how we’re doing. We want someone to notice. And all we feel like we get in response is silence. So we turn to another outlet. We cut. We act out. Anything to numb the pain. Anything. Even suicide.

But there is hope.

I’m on my knees, begging You to turn to me
I’m on my knees, Father will You run to me?

At first, we don’t see it as hope. See, there is this God who loves us. But I’m just one in 6.9 billion people. 6.9 BILLION. Could God really notice me? Could he really hear my voice among all the others?

One life, that’s all I am
Right now I can barely stand
If You’re everything You say You are
Would You come close and hold my heart?

On Thursday I talked about love, and the effect that love had on me when I found out someone I loved was hurting. But the truth is, God loves that person so much more than I ever could. When that person is going through pain, God was there more than I was. As I sat there, I didn’t know what to say. I sat there with them for at least 30 minutes, not saying a word, because I didn’t know what to say. And when I finally spoke, I couldn’t have spoken the words that I did, it was only because God was there.

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” ~ Matthew 11:28

God sent his son to us to bring us relief from pain. That is the beautiful thing of the cross. God knows your pain. He has experienced it. His heart breaks when he see’s you go through the pain. He is begging us to bring us his pain.

I need your hurt I need your pain
It’s not love any other way

It’s not love without it. God’s love is there to take your pain. No matter what your pain is, whether it’s your fault or not. He loves you. I think Tenth Avenue North (the band I’ve been quoting this whole post) said it best in their song “Times”:

The times you’re hurting.
The times that you heal.
The times you go hungry, and are tempted to steal.
The times of confusion, in chaos and pain.
I’m there in your sorrow, under the weight of your shame.
I’m there through your heartache.
I’m there in the storm.
My love I will keep you, by My power alone.
I don’t care where you fallen, where you have been.
I’ll never forsake you, My love never ends.
It never ends.”

His love never ends. It will always be there. Bring Him your pain, He can take it.

If you are going through something. I would love to talk to you. Leave a comment below, or click on “Contact” near the top of the page.
